RoRoLink
RoRoLink is a fixed or mobile cable management solution designed to deliver fast, safe, and reliable shore power connections for RoRo and RoPax vessels during port calls. For fixed vessel routes, full operation is possible from the vessel alone, eliminating the need for shoreside personnel.
The system features a customizable Cable Management System (CMS), with column and boom dimensions tailored to project requirements. Boom options include fixed-reach (rotating only), telescopic, and longitudinal movement to match hatch location.
RoRoLink includes an Active Height Compensation System that automatically adjusts to vessel movements, ensuring a stable connection.
Built to withstand harsh marine environments.
Fully compliant with the latest IEC 80005 shore power standards.

FAQ about RoRoLink
How can RoRoLink reach the connection point if its location differs between vessels?
The most important part of a RoRoLink project is careful planning, ensuring that vessels with varying hatch locations can connect reliably in the future. If it is known in advance that hatch positions may differ, the minimum and maximum working ranges are first identified so the solution can be customised accordingly.
To provide additional flexibility, RoRoLink offers different configurations. The Telescopic boom extends and retracts to increase the working range, while the Reach boom provides full horizontal and vertical movement, allowing it to reach hatches at different heights and distances. For ports handling a wide variety of vessels, the Mobile version can move along the quay and park directly in front of the hatch.
Together, these options ensure a tailored solution capable of efficiently accommodating different vessel types and connection points.
Can the system handle variations in the vessel’s position at the quay?
RoRoLink includes our Active Height Compensation System (AHCS). This system constantly monitors the cable tension as the vessel rises (unloading cargo) or falls (loading), automatically paying out or reeling in cable to ensure there is zero tension on the plug, regardless of the tide or draft.
What voltage levels and power does RoRoLink support?
RoRoLink is designed according to the IEC/ISO 80005 standard for shore-to-ship connections. It supports medium-voltage (MV) systems at 6.6 kV or 11 kV, with a total power capacity of up to 6.5 MVA, as well as low-voltage (LV) systems at 400 V, 440 V, or 690 V, with a power capacity of up to 1 MVA. This ensures compliance with standard RoRo/RoPax requirements for both high- and low-voltage connections.
How quickly can RoRoLink establish a shore power connection?
The system allows a single operator to secure the connection within a few minutes, and on fixed routes where the system is pre-positioned, the process is even faster, maximizing charging and power time during short turnaround windows. For the highest efficiency, a fully automated version is also available.
